Today, the best floor mats offer excellent edge-to-edge protection without deviating too much from the cabin’s feel. And since so many base-model Tesla Model 3s don’t come with mats, it’s up to you to find one that best suits your lifestyle. High-end models feature rugged thermoplastic with deep ridges and fluid channels that do an exceptional job of separating mud, water, and debris from your soles, keeping your carpet floor untouched, while fabric and carpeted options offer enough cushioning for comfort, but aren’t up to task to deal with nature’s inclement weather patterns. To help you along that journey, we’ve compiled a list of floor mats perfect for your Model 3, along with the criteria we used to evaluate each pick and top features to look out for.

Made of durable High-Density Tri-Extruded (HDTE) material with deep channels to better contain liquids and spills.

Tufted carpet construction prioritizing comfort

Three-layer construction and carbon fiber-like appearance for the best of both design and function

We pored over the web’s floor mat options for the Tesla Model 3 and quickly understood why selecting one is such a pain. There are countless options out there for all sorts of varying prices. Our top recommendations for the best Tesla Model 3 floor mats are based on several factors, including construction, material, fit, and price. We excluded dozens upon dozens of available options to only bring you the best. More on Garage Tools/Accessories

Long considered one of the leading floor mat manufacturers on the planet, Weathertech does not disappoint with this set of floor mats. These floor mats come in a three-piece set with two front mats and one rear mat. Each mat is constructed using high-density tri-extruded (HDTE) material, which promises a rigid core and taller lips lining the edge to keep liquids well contained.

One of our favorite features with the Weathertech Custom Fit FloorLiners is its design. It uses thin, deep channels that work to channel fluids and debris into a separate reservoir, which can be emptied at regular intervals and cleaned with no more than simple soap and rinse. Its rear floor liner is a little stronger, made using custom-blended TPO, which holds up very nicely under extreme temperatures. And unlike most of our picks, the Weathertech Custom Fit FloorLiner comes with a limited lifetime warranty.

The Wennebird Carpet Floor Mat offers a solid set of driver, passenger, and rear floor mats, with its biggest differentiator being its three-layer, tufted carpet construction. Its first layer is tufted carpet and the second layer is made of waterproof PVC. Outside of a rigid heel pad on the driver's mat, the mats are surprisingly uniform with no ridges, grooves, raised lips, or reservoirs to channel debris or liquids.

As mentioned, the driver's side mat has a raised heel pad, which is designed to keep the heel from slipping. It does seem oddly placed and we wished the entire mat's surface shared a similar look and feel. Given its tufted carpet construction, the Wennebird Carpet Floor Mat is best reserved for light use or drivers who aren’t trekking into extreme weather environments, bringing back sludge into their vehicles.

The Taptes Model 3 Floor Mats are designed to offer excellent protection against dirt, mud, snow, and other debris and come in a three-piece set (two front mats and one rear mat). Each mat offers three layers of protection, starting with a thermoplastic rubber surface layer, a TPR-XPR inner layer, and anti-slip backing to prevent shifting.

This floor mat's surface thermoplastic rubber layer has a carbon fiber-like texture that resembles slightly raised nibs, offering a sleek yet minimalist appearance that will not look out of place in the Model 3's cabin. An XPE inner layer provides cushioning and support and its bottom layer offers a soft yet grainy, firm texture to keep it firmly in place although keeping it easy to remove. 3D raised edges also work to contain smaller spills from hitting your factory carpet.

Although minimalist at a glance, the Tuxmat Custom Floor Mats offer an excellent combination of value and functionality, resisting both moisture and debris. All mats lead with a three-layer vinyl construction, with the top layer made of waterproof PVC and the middle layer made of PVA.

Unlike other picks, the Tuxmat Custom Floor Mats surface seems to pay more attention to comfort. Large, thick, and padded PVC ribs offer a nice textured feel and extra-wide heel pads are designed to offer stability. Its PVC ribs are high enough to effectively allow liquids and debris to channel through to the far edges, flanked by raised lips for added floor protection. An OEM retention hook system and slip-resistant bottom layer grip onto your carpet's surface for a tight hold. And like the Weathertech Custom Fit FloorLiner, these floor mats also come with a limited lifetime warranty.

The Tmate Model 3 Floor Mats are different from our other picks primarily due to their 100 percent latex construction. Although not as thick or durable as rubber, it offers excellent cracking and curling resistance, and the design includes small raised edges and narrow channels to funnel liquid, mud, and dirt away from your feet. These are not a bad set of features for the lower price versus either.

We like the Tmate Model 3 Floor Mats’ anti-slip backing, which uses raised nubs to dig into your factory carpet, keeping them firmly in place. Consider these mats as a half measure between all-weather protection and carpeted mats designed more for comfort, but they’re still very good indeed. Just don’t go running in mud and hop back into the car.

Hea Floor Mats offers one of the more intriguing designs we've seen with a Tesla Model 3 floor mat as these 3D liners are constructed using thermoplastic elastomer, a cross-linked polyethylene center for strength, and a second middle foam center for noise reduction. These mats are more noticeably flat than others, with no real channels, grooves, or reservoirs to contain debris and spills.

It is not hard to imagine dirt piling up on these without regular cleaning, though the raised edges should contain whatever mess you track back in. Hopefully, its lifetime warranty is more than enough to compensate though, arguably, this floor mat's biggest draw is its design as it sports a sleek carbon fiber pattern, contains no visible logos, and has no distinguishing marks. This one really is for the owner who wants to preserve their Model 3’s spartan interior feel.

The 3D Maxpider Floor Mats are designed to offer an excellent blend of all-weather protection and style and starts with a multi-layer construction led by a top, waterproof thermoplastic rubber layer followed by middle lightweight XPE foam and an anti-slip bottom to prevent shifting. Deep grooves help channel liquids and trap dirt and its middle XPE layer is especially useful for absorbing shock and preventing moisture from seeping underneath to your carpet floor.

In terms of construction, the 3D Maxpider Floor Mats use raised lips that work to contain spills, while the driver’s mat also comes with a durable heel pad to prevent the area under your pedal from absorbing too much wear. Unlike other rubber mats, this one is completely odorless for a more refreshing out-of-the-box feeling.

Our pick for the best Tesla Model 3 floor mat goes to the Weathertech Custom Fit FloorLiner, as it is better suited for heavy use. It comes complete with a rigid high-density tri-extruded construction, raised lips along the edges, and thin, deep channels to help move liquids and debris to a reservoir for a quick rinse and wipe off.

For complete stain, heat, and moisture-resistant, rubber floor mats are the way to go. They are generally thicker than thermoplastic elastomer, carpet, and vinyl, and feature deep grooves and channels, making it easier to trap dirt, water, road salts, and other debris. One knock on rubber floor mats, however, is limited color options, with almost all arriving in black or brown.

Consider carpet floor mats a better option for those who aren’t traipsing in mud or dirt and prioritize comfort over heavy use. It is less moisture and heat resistant, although many claim water-absorbing fibers for more hazardous off-roading conditions.

Thermoplastic elastomer floor mats offer the most versatility when it comes to design. Constructed using plastic and rubber, thermoplastic elastomer floor mats and floor liners can carry additional features such as raised edges to contain spills and deep grooves to channel liquid away from your feet and into a reservoir.

There are other thermoplastic blends that vary in terms of rubber, filler, and plastic composition, including thermoplastic olefin (TPO), which is known for UV resistance, whereas polypropylene is known for being harder and more chemical resistant. A fourth option, polyethylene, is the cheapest option, consisting of a blend of different polymers and known for its toughness.

Our preferred material for floor mats is rubber, followed by thermoplastic elastomer, vinyl, and carpet. Rubber floor mats have long been considered the most durable, heat, moisture, and stain-resistant with enough density to work deep ridges and channels to channel liquids and trap debris. Plus, the thicker the mat, the less likelihood of cracking or breaking.

Consider most Tesla Model 3 floor mats winners if they feature high edges for spills, deep grooves for channeling liquid, and raised pads for heel support. Note, not every design is created equal. Some Tesla Model 3 floor mats like the Tuxmat Custom Floor Mats offer thick, padded PVC ribs that are designed more for comfort than trapping dirt and spills.

Go with rubber mats over vinyl and fabric if you are looking for the easiest mat to clean. Soil and debris can easily become caked within fabric and require a heavy-duty cleaning brush. Rubber mats can be washed with a quick soap and rinse. Plus, it holds channels and reservoirs that keep liquids in one place until it's time to open the door and "shake them off."

Weathertech is arguably the most popular floor mat manufacturer in the world. Based in Bolingbrook, Ill., it produces all kinds of floor, cargo, and trunk liner/mat products for consumers and automobile manufacturers as an OEM supplier, including four German automakers. Today, Weathertech distributes to more than 80 countries around the globe.

Unlike Weathertech, Hong Kong-based Taptes is a Tesla aftermarket accessories manufacturer. They make a variety of products for the Model 3, including cabin air filters, trunk mats, armrest storage boxes, and multi-function organizers.

Headquartered in Canada, Tukmat promises "the ultimate car mat with maximum coverage." It uses laser scanning technology to ensure each of the mats they produce are compatible with Tesla's proportions and the company is especially prideful of its three-layer mats that use a PVC top layer, the foam-rubber-like EVA middle layer, and a felt-like, anti-slip bottom layer.

As with something you do for decades upon decades, you pick up a few tips and tricks along the way in terms of selecting the right product, and/or using it. That’s the case with us and Tesla Model 3 floor mats. To help you bridge the information gap, here’s a selection of what we’ve learned along the way.

You’ve got questions. The Drive has answers!

The Tesla Model 3 Standard Range and Standard Range Plus do not come with floor mats. We highly recommend rubber over vinyl, thermoplastic elastomer, and carpeted floor mats due to better heat, moisture, and wear resistance. They also generally tend to carry deeper grooves and raised lips along the edges to contain liquids and trap debris.

Most of our recommendations are all laser measured and cut based on your vehicle's specifications, promising a snug fit. Be sure to consult with the manufacturer to determine if it is compatible with your Tesla Model 3 before purchasing.

Our recommendation is to purchase a set of three: one for your driver's side, one for your passenger side, and one for your rear seating.
